Harper's Hunt

Welcome to the Harper’s Hunt! This is not your typical scavenger hunt. You will be asked to take part in a most unusual series of feats and game play. While our normal event activities have been curtailed due to the Plague that has decimated our lands, we are finding new ways to be together and entertain one another. This game is largely based on the SMASH event that happened in June this year. The event organizers have given us permission to use their ideas for our own set of games. This is a great way to get away from the computer for a little while and spend some time doing some creative and imaginative things.

Team 1 - Goblin Energy

Team 2 - Team Artemis

The results are in! It took a bit of time and careful consideration by the judges to score each item presented. We were amazed by the amount of work, thoughtfulness and ingenuity of the teams. Each entry was evaluated per number 4 of Game Play. The judged score is listed at the bottom of each item and the total score is at the top of the page. Congratulations to Goblin Energy!

We decided to change the parameters of the Populous Vote. Instead of adding the score to the judged total, we've taken all items that both teams sent an entry for and used them for the Populous Vote. When you look at the entries presented by the teams, there is a note at the bottom of each entry considered for the Populous Vote. The note either says Populous Vote Item or Populous Vote Winner. We're proud to announce that Team Artemis has won the Populous Vote!

Game Play:

  1. Form a team from 3-6 players. Your team may consist of members of your home branch, or members from kingdoms all over the Known World! While children are encouraged to participate, all registered team members must be 13 years or older.

  2. If you would like to participate but do not have a team and would like some assistance, please fill out the form with a question mark (?) in the Team Name and the organizers will help you find a team. What a great way to make new friends!

  3. Pick a team captain and a team name! Team captains will be the main contact point for the organizers, though any team member can post completed items.

  4. Each item will be assigned a difficulty value. All items will be evaluated on a scale of 1-5 based on the following items: how closely the entry meets the item requirements, creativity, historical accuracy (when applicable), and general awesomeness. The points will be multiplied by the difficulty to come up with a final judged score. In addition, the populous will be allowed to cast a single vote per item.

  5. Do as many items as you can, and upload the results on that item’s page.

  6. Make sure you include the name of your team. UNLABELED ENTRIES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!

  7. Our judging team will tally each team’s score and announce them at court on Sunday. Scores will be posted to the event page after court. The winning team will be mailed their prizes.

The Rules:

  1. Be Safe and Don’t Break the Law. By registering for and/or participating in the Harper's Hunt, you and your teammate(s) assume all liability and responsibility for your actions and safety. SCA Inc. assumes no liability or responsibility for your actions nor safety, nor the actions and safety of your teammates, nor anyone affected by your or your teammate’s actions.

  2. Be Sensible about privacy. Please don’t post any personal information, such as your home address, school or place of work, or financial information on social media. Ever. It’s just a really bad idea.

  3. Keep it Clean! Any entries that include obscenities, graphic nudity, bigotry based on race, gender, gender expression, sexuality, ability, or generally discourteous behavior will be removed. Repeat offenders will be disqualified.

  4. Any teams that are not registered by Sept 3, 2020, will not be recognized.

  5. A list of the items will be posted on the web page at approximately 8:00 pm EDT, on Wednesday, Sept 2nd, 2020. Each item will have its own web page for entries.

  6. The scavenger hunt will end at 12:00 noon EDT on Saturday Sept 5th, 2020. Any entries submitted after that time will not be counted.

  7. Any entries that are not clearly labelled with the name of your team will be disqualified.

  8. Any entries posted in the wrong item will be disqualified.

  9. Have fun!!
