16th Century Lacis

Using an extant example of 16th century lacis from the Metropolitan Museum of
Art, this piece is done with white #12 perle cotton on open-woven fabric (10 squares/inch). It is primarily done in loop stitch with some darning stitch and outlining. The original is linen on knotted net 5 squares/inch, so is twice as big. The fabric is sewn to a pre-made fabric mask and trimmed with ribbon.
