Baronial Champion Tournaments - Styles and Current Baronial Champions:

Baronial Championships are open to all. Champions are not required to live in the Barony, but must be willing to serve the Barony for one year. Please let the tournament organizer know if you do not wish to be considered for a Champion.

Archery: After a discussion between the Baron and Baroness's archery champions, we came up with a theme for the event....BARDIC PUPPETRY.  All of the adult events will have some kind of target theme involving puppets and/or stories that I have done with puppet assistance.  There will be qualifying on Saturday morning, finalists selected from those scores, and those finalists will shoot off after lunch Saturday for the Baronial titles.

There will be a children's archery shoot also.  The theme of this event is very dear to me. This August marks the 20th anniversary of the of a legendary child hero,  the Champion of House Pink Fuzzy Bunny. The contest for the kids will involve theme targets based on this story. The prizes for the best shooter will also be based on that theme.  There will be targets for all ages and skill levels.

There will also be some surprise shooting targets from the mind and workshop of your current Baron's Archery Champion.  Beware...the adult targets WILL test the skills of all Baronial archers

Baron’s Champion - Gregor McLaughlin

Baronessa’s Champion - Cailleach Dhe Clannach

Golden Arrow was also given out to Rune Vitter of Bergental by Lord Ronan O'Faelan.

Fencing: Prepare for a double elimination, starting with single rapier, after the first defeat combatants can bring their best form. Finals will be the best five passes baronial/royals choice of armament.

Baron’s Champion - Lucien de Wyntere

Baronessa’s Champion - Gerhardt von Hohensee

Heavy List: Greetings from the Baron’s Heavy List Champion. This year’s tournament will be a one hour bear pit with one special rule: any Chivalry entering the lists will do so mounted as it their Knightly right. As some may not be prepared for this, I will furnish all Knights and Master's of Arms with horses from my own stables.

The ladies of the gallery may invite any member of the chivalry to "dismount" in the second half of the tournament if they so wish.

Baron’s Champion - Bregowine of Horseheath

Baronessa’s Champion - Alton Hews

Thrown Weapons:   The tourney will have some challenging shots using knives, axes and spears incorporated to test the skill of the eye and of the might of the arm.

Baronial Champion - Ian Reid-McGaffin

Bardic: Our theme, in honor of our Good Queen, is Tales of Fortune and Misfortune. Contestants vying for baronial bard shall provide two contrasting entries (song, poetry, or story), one of which should be pre-1650. Please provide brief documentation for your period piece. To ensure that all our contestants are heard, please limit your entries to 8 minutes total (for both pieces combined) - this includes any remarks you would like to say concerning your piece. Please be sure to time your pieces in advance; you will be asked to provide your approximate timings on the competition forms, to be found at the event.

Warrior bards and Children’s bard contestants shall provide one entry (song, poetry, or story), and should limit their entries to 4 minutes total. A period piece is not necessary for these categories. Judging shall be done both by a pre-selected panel using a provided rubric, and by the populace via beads/tokens. The rubric shall evaluate contestants on criteria such as quality of delivery and technical skill, with one additional point being awarded to contestants who keep to this year’s theme. If anyone has questions regarding their submission, documentation, or the rubric, please feel free to contact me via Facebook messenger or at titaniaem@gmail.com.

Please note, there is a 4 minute time limit on a single piece and 8 minutes for two pieces.

Bardic competitions are open to ALL, ages though we will have the younger (below 18) participants go first as this can sometimes take a while and bedtimes can come earlier.
